OBJECTIVE
Company was assessing the opportunity to streamline Research & Discovery (R&D) operations around the world by consolidating the number of labs it maintained. The focus was to build “mega” labs centered around specific research areas of concentration.
SOLUTION
- This was an assessment on multiple levels including personnel, equipment, locations, programs, and systems. There were over 300 active programs in 45 locations. The project necessitated the development of a phased plan for both current and future programs.
- Established financial conditions that supported the building of several R&D Centers. Then aligned the proper programs (based upon area of study and personnel). Created an aggregate view of the programs to perform the assessment.
BENEFITS
Developed a plan that would allow the company to establish six (6) mega labs within the US over a 7-year period while formulating a plan to complete the assessment during that timeframe on a worldwide basis.
